Job Description: Role Overview The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the fabrication and integration of battery energy storage enclosures at a contract manufacturer's (CM) facility. This role is permanently located at the CM and is primarily focused on ensuring manufacturing excellence, driving cost reduction efforts, and implementing engineering changes to optimize production processes.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably within the battery energy storage or related industry.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and a proven track record of process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with manufacturing methodologies, lean manufacturing principles, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with contract manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of battery energy storage systems and enclosure fabrication.
  • Certification in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or other relevant quality management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality. This includes optimizing material usage, improving production techniques, and reducing waste.
  • Engineering Changes: Collaborate with engineering teams to implement changes to manufacturing processes that enhance product quality and reduce costs. Ensure that all changes are thoroughly tested and validated before full-scale implementation.
  • Cost Reduction: Develop and execute strategies to reduce manufacturing costs while maintaining or improving product quality. This includes optimizing material usage, improving production techniques, and reducing waste.
  • Quality Assurance: Work closely with the Quality Engineer to ensure that all products meet the required specifications and standards.
  • Supplier Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with the contract manufacturer, ensuring that their processes and products meet our quality and cost standards.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed manufacturing documentation, including process flow diagrams, work instructions, and production reports.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and support to the contract manufacturer's team on manufacturing standards, cost reduction techniques, and best practices.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including engineering, operations, and procurement, to ensure alignment on manufacturing objectives, cost reduction goals, and process changes.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on manufacturing performance, cost reduction efforts, engineering changes, and improvements.
