Founded in 2017, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have. Manufacturing Test Engineer - Mechanical, Energy Storage Essential Duties : As an early member of a new engineering team, you will play a key role in mechanical actuators and fixtures for manufacturing testers to support Redwood Energy. You’ll be involved in the design of testers for implementation in manufacturing as well as field settings to screen our products. This role requires a hands-on, proactive attitude paired with a methodical and analytical approach to problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years experience with mechanical design of robust fixtures, jigs, and high cycle count hardware
  • Hands on mechanical prototyping experience using basic shop & lab tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels, including executives.
  • A get-it-done attitude; no job is too big or too small
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PCBA Bed of Nails fixtures and other high volume electrical interface designs
  • Experience working with high-voltage systems (400–2000VDC and 480-800VAC).

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical fixtures, actuators, and systems for high volume manufacturing testers
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical design engineers on design for manufacture considerations
  • Develop automated interfaces for high volume using tools like pneumatics and/or electromechanical actuators
  • Own thermal simulation and design of high volume high powered test equipment
  • Debug and root cause issues found in manufacturing test
  • Participate in tester builds and validation efforts such as GRR and SAT
