About The Position

The Manufacturing Development Technician II provides hands-on technical support for the design, testing, and development of new and existing products, test systems, and manufacturing procedures. This role plays a critical part in supporting New Item Development (NID), samples, and production by working cross-functionally to improve product quality, manufacturability, and production efficiency.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (two-year technical degree)
  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing or technical experience.
  • Demonstrated strong and consistent performance at the Technician I level.
  • Ability to independently manage moderately complex projects.
  • Strong foundation in electronic and mechanical principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to take initiative, work independently, and manage multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP and writing Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)

Responsibilities

  • Support and control all aspects of New Item Development (NID) and sample-related requests.
  • Review requests and recommend design or documentation changes to ensure manufacturability and customer requirements are met.
  • Request, track, and document tooling needs for NID and sample products.
  • Coordinate with tooling designers to develop or order simple fixtures as required.
  • Collaborate with Turck Mexico to evaluate and support work instructions, tooling, and processes for samples, NID, and production programs.
  • Verify availability, functionality, and suitability of production tooling.
  • Maintain and control work instruction documentation for NID, sample, and production-related products.
  • Coordinate with Drafting, Master Data, and Manufacturing Development Engineering.
  • Perform basic time studies for NID, sample, and production activities.
  • Train and support Production teams on new equipment, tooling, and processes.
  • Recommend procedural and product improvements.
  • Answer technical questions related to production methods and work instructions.
  • Process and evaluate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Development Engineering and Master Data to ensure accurate implementation.
  • Occasionally author ECOs, documenting rationale, scope, and implementation plans.
  • Assist Manufacturing Development Engineering with feasibility evaluations for new project designs and tooling.
  • Understand and support basic operations of automated and semi-automated production equipment, including cutting, crimping, molding, and related machinery.
  • Respond to technical questions regarding raw materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
