Your 'day to day' Operational Leadership & Efficiency Analyze departmental operations to optimize labor, equipment, and material utilization. Achieve production targets with minimal labor costs and maximum machine efficiency. Continuously identify opportunities to reduce operational costs while maintaining product quality. Implement technologies and systems to reduce process variation and improve performance Team Development & Safety Ensure employees are properly trained and follow safe work practices. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Promote positive employee relations and maintain strong attendance standards. Serve as the first point of contact in the departmental grievance process. Inventory & Materials Management Oversee inventory control and safe storage of finished goods and materials. Establish efficient storage practices to support production and minimize waste. Coordinate product movement across departments to ensure smooth workflow. Union Relations & Compliance Maintain thorough knowledge of union contracts and ensure operations align with contractual obligations. Conduct departmental activities with consideration for union relations and business impact. Facility & Environmental Oversight Ensure cleanliness and organization of all areas under management. Support plant-wide initiatives including grounds maintenance, snow removal, and off-site storage projects. Additional Responsibilities by Assignment Receiving Manager Forecast raw tobacco requirements for product blends and ensure timely availability. Lead cross-functional projects involving physical labor and facility support. Relief Manager Maintain working knowledge of operations across Loose Leaf, Shipping, and Receiving departments. Provide temporary leadership coverage for department managers or supervisors as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred.
  • Minimum two years supervisory or Swedish Match process experience in Shipping or Receiving areas. Minimum five years for other manufacturing areas.
  • Ability to coordinate several different operations concurrently.
  • Effectively supervise a large number of hourly employees.
  • Must completely understand the current labor contract.
  • Must be able to take direct action. Must be able to plan actions and establish priorities
  • Ability to work a 2nd shift position
