What you'll be able to do: Manufacturing Controls Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Redford Township, Michigan). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the anticipated worksite. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from the anticipated worksite. Lead the assembly and machining controls engineering deliverables for Powertrain and Vehicle programs, from simultaneous engineering through program launch for all Global sites. Implement and apply standard software and hardware controls architectures across all programs/plants, following the Ford controls specifications. Ensure the identification and capture of lessons learned along with their application to new programs, as well as the impact to existing strategies and standards. Lead simultaneous engineering meetings with Tier I suppliers to orchestrate controls program reviews with all interested parties. Participate in management program reviews and represent the controls organization in commodity discussions. Drive the controls organization to resolve issues, including feasibility, timing, cost, and workload. Handle current scope program responsibilities. Deliver new model program work for various Powertrain and vehicle programs supporting and working at any Ford manufacturing facility. Work off shift, as the need arises, during peak program install and launch times. Support plant shutdown activities for retooled and new equipment. Domestic and International Travel Required up to 80%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering or a related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • 4 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
  • Programming capabilities with Siemens, Schneider, Bosch, and Allen Bradley PLCs and with CNC/Motion controls systems.
  • Equipment Controls Runoff validating equipment at suppliers completing functional checks, safety validations, DCS zone validations, and IT Manufacturing Execution systems.
  • Delivering vehicle assembly error proofing systems and installing and troubleshooting vehicle tracking systems, task monitoring systems, plant floor manufacturing devices (Torque tools, Scanner systems, and automation tools).
  • Managing IT server connections between plant floor tooling and automation and error proofing servers and vehicle tracking servers using OPCUA connections and root cause errors using 8D problem solving processes.
  • Troubleshooting and fixing PLC, CNC, robot, vision, networks and drives .
  • Communication network architectures and field bus protocols including Profinet and Ethernet IP.
  • Manufacturing Engineering IT standard footprint applications.
  • Set up and configuring new Factory Information Systems and managing and configuring Office Automation Network, defining VLAN, NAT, and Firewall.
