About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Buyer to support daily purchasing operations in a fast-paced production environment. This is an on-site position is seated at our DSI site in Poestenkill, NY. This role works closely with manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams to ensure materials and services are available on time and at the right cost. You will play a key role in maintaining supply continuity, managing vendor relationships, and supporting cost and quality objectives. This is a hands-on role suited for someone who understands the urgency and precision required in manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools
  • Solid understanding of procurement processes, vendor management, and cost control
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Organized with high attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Able to work under pressure and meet production-driven deadlines
  • Team-oriented with a proactive and solution-focused approach

Responsibilities

  • Place purchase orders in the ERP system and coordinate with vendors to ensure on-time delivery
  • Issue RFQs and support vendor selection based on cost, quality, and lead time
  • Partner with production planning to adjust order schedules and avoid supply disruptions
  • Perform basic cost analysis and support volume planning for key commodities
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers to support business needs and new product introductions
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, reports, and documentation
  • Monitor supplier performance related to cost, quality, and delivery
  • Work with Accounts Payable and vendors to resolve invoice and delivery discrepancies
  • Support continuous improvement efforts, including cost savings and process efficiency initiatives
  • Ensure clear communication of order status, changes, and risks to internal stakeholders
