About The Position

Operates fabricating machines such as drills, shears, presses and saws to punch, cut, shape bend and saw metal pieces necessary for the manufacturing of boat trailers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned Operates fabricating machines such as drills, shears, presses and saws to punch, cut, shape bend and saw metal pieces necessary for the manufacturing of boat trailers. Read, learn, understand and interpret blueprints and work instructions, and other instructions written or verbal, to complete manufacturing of products or components according to established guidelines and quality standards Identify parts and raw materials, as required for job order Inspect and make sure machinery is in good working condition Run a sample part and check against print Produce quantity of parts required by work order, check every 10th part Sets stops or guides to specified length, as indicated by scale rule or template Manually positions work pieces against stops or aligns layout marks with dye or blade. Pushes buttons or depresses treadle to activate machine. Places finished pieces in bins or on racks for transport to assembly are Cross Train to other departments as needed All Employees Follow Mission, Vision & Values. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management. Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift and other mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to read and comprehend measuring tools such as a tape measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be willing to learn and practice continuous improvement techniques such as, but not limited to, 5S and set-up reduction.
  • The ability to participate and lead in a team-oriented environment with the willingness to assist and train others.
  • Demonstrate safe behavior and support department/plant safety goals in a continuous improvement process.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends before and after schedule as needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • The ability to write routine reports and correspondence, as well as speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
