About The Position

Turbomachinery Industries is seeking a talented Manual Machinist The Manual Machinist is responsible for the precision machining, repair, and modification of components used in turbomachinery equipment, including compressors, turbines, and pumps. This position involves setting up and operating manual lathes, mills, and grinders to produce and refurbish high-tolerance parts in accordance with engineering drawings and customer specifications. The Manual Machinist plays a key role in supporting both production and repair operations, ensuring all parts meet performance, quality, and safety standards critical to rotating equipment applications.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with rotating equipment and pump repair in industrial environments
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited machinist apprenticeship or technical program preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in manual machining, preferably in turbomachinery, rotating equipment, or precision repair environments.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, repair documents, and engineering drawings.
  • Skilled in the use of manual lathes, mills, and precision measurement tools.
  • Understanding of materials used in turbomachinery components, including stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, and other exotic metals.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring mills, and grinders to machine components for turbomachinery equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and repair specifications to determine machining processes, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Inspect and measure finished parts using precision instruments (micrometers, dial indicators, calipers) to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Machine and refurbish components such as shafts, impellers, casings, and seal housings with high accuracy.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and quality personnel to troubleshoot machining challenges and achieve repair or manufacturing objectives.
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition and follow all safety and quality procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machining efficiency, accuracy, and reliability.
