About The Position

Set-up and operate conventional and special purpose machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.

Requirements

  • Multi Axis Lathe Experience Required
  • Must be proficient with Okuma Live Tooling Lathes and IGF Programming at the machine.
  • GD&T and tolerancing knowledge is required.
  • 5 Years Minimum running Okuma Lathes.
  • One to two years certificate from vocational college or technical school; or two to five years of experience and/or training with type of machines assigned; or combination of education and experience.
  • Must have knowledge of fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, good eyesight, by lenses if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and shaper.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine or control media as required.
  • Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
  • Set-up and operate machine on first run articles to verify accuracy of machine settings.
  • Fit and assemble parts into assemblies.
  • Verify dimensions and alignment of assembly.
  • Perform required daily maintenance of machine tools and shop equipment.
  • Perform various machine repairs as required.
  • Keep work area in clean and safe order.
  • Support and comply with safety procedures.
  • Confer with Machine Shop Supervisor, Engineers, Production employees, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Temporary assignment to various Atec facilities may be required as needed to support Atec operations.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  • Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.
  • Be familiar with and understand Atec Quality Policy and company objectives.
  • Understand required AS9100/ISO specific Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Complete all records required by Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Participate in Atec Continuous Improvement activities as appropriate (including Strategic Planning, AIM, Suggestion box, etc.).
  • Participate in AS9100/ISO training as required.
  • Cooperate with Auditors.
  • Report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.
