About The Position

We are seeking Manual Jig Bore machinists for a 6 month Travelling contract to ILLINOIS. Flextrades is seeking experienced Manual Jig Bore machinists with 4+ recent years experience to support a precision manufacturing client. You will be setting up and operating a Pratt & Whitney 2E Jig Bore machine – this is a manual vertical jig borer. It is outfitted with a DRO and a rotary table.

Project Specs:
6 month duration onsite in ILLINOIS
Pay: $40/hr
50hrs/week GUARANTEED
$45 per diem (tax-free), 7 days a week
Private hotel accommodations (we handle the booking)
ITAR documentation and References Required
Must pass a background check and drug test
Travel time compensation

Requirements

• 4+ recent years experience operating manual jig bore machines.
• Must have strong understanding of GD&T
• Ability to meet .001" tolerances
• Ability to work from prints only, not setup sheets or instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Comfortable working with tight measurement requirements.
• Able to set up each part independently without setup sheets or step-by-step instructions.
• Experience using basic measurement tools.
• Ability to adapt to non-repetitive tasks and unique setups.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a manual jig bore machine.
• Work on a variety of parts, each requiring its own setup.
• Follow engineering drawings to identify features that need rework.
• Secure and position parts accurately before machining.
• Make precise adjustments to bring parts back within required measurements.
• Use basic measurement tools to check work before final inspection.
• Work in a rework environment where parts arrive needing correction.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area.
