Department OverviewAs a Manger, Protective Services Driver, you will play a vital role in providing safe and secure transportation for Global Security protectees who require executive protection. You will ensure the safety and security of protectees during transportation, covering home-to-work transit and secure travel to various meetings and events. This position reports to the Senior Director of Executive and Event Services and is based out of McDonald’s Headquarters in Chicago, IL. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in driving operations and/or security field.
  • Valid driver’s license, required to pass ongoing Motor Vehicle Record checks, and maintain eligibility to drive McDonald’s vehicles.
  • Successfully pass McDonald’s background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
  • Successful completion of a recognized Defensive/Evasive Driving Course and CPR/AED/First Aid Course.
  • Proficiency in defensive and tactical driving techniques.
  • Required to meet relevant security licensing requirements.
  • Maintain extreme confidentiality of sensitive information and sign a nondisclosure agreement.
  • Ability to work flexible traditional and non-traditional work hours (off hours) which may include evenings, weekends and holidays, and ability to travel, as needed.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, input, or operating conditions.
  • Ability to adapt operational plans and strategies based on changing circumstances.
  • Participate in scheduled training to maintain readiness and alignment with evolving protocols and standards.
  • Knowledge of security protocols and emergency response procedures.
  • Ability to conduct route planning and reconnaissance effectively.
  • Familiarity with vehicle maintenance and mechanical checks.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Professionalism in client interactions.
  • Confirmed knowledge and proficiency with various computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Share Point) and the ability to learn custom applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of a recognized Defensive/Evasive Driving Course.
  • Successful completion of a recognized Executive Protection Course.
  • Prior experience in emergency response and first aid procedures, to include CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, including the use of communication devices.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate defensive driving skills to navigate high-risk situations and potential threats while maintaining control of the vehicle. Anticipate and react to hazards on the road, including aggressive drivers and adverse weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in tactical driving techniques to evade potential threats or escape from dangerous situations effectively. Execute maneuvers such as evasive turns and emergency braking while prioritizing the safety and security of clients.
  • Conduct route planning and reconnaissance to identify security risks, traffic patterns, and alternate routes before each journey. Assess road conditions and traffic congestion to optimize travel routes and minimize security vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure operational readiness of the vehicle at all times. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks to address any issues that may compromise safety or performance.
  • Adhere to strict security protocols to mitigate the risk of unauthorized access or incidents during transit. Implement security measures such as vehicle sweeps and communication protocols to maintain situational awareness.
  • Act swiftly and decisively during emergency situations, such as medical incidents, accidents, or security incidents.
  • Provide immediate first aid, emergency CPR and AED assistance, or evacuation of designated facilities, if necessary.
  • Adhere to confidentiality and discretion regarding client information and security operations.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination during transit. Use communication devices to relay information, receive instructions, and adapt plans accordingly.
  • Keep up to date with security trends, best practices, and technologies.
  • Provide support to produce high-quality results related to security planning and special projects.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required to support evolving operational needs.
