About The Position

Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time, coastal or environmental engineer for our Baltimore, MD office. We are interested in a candidate that has the capacity to grow, is a quick learner, is detail-orientated, is a committed team player, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. This position will manage and support civil/environmental engineering projects involving dredging, dredged material management, remedial design and construction management. Typical project locations will be based in the Mid-Atlantic region, but assignments may also include work on projects nationwide. Successful candidates will have an opportunity to work on a variety of tasks of differing complexities, both independently and in team environments, learn directly from leaders in the industry, and provide mentoring to our junior staff.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in relevant engineering field (coastal, environmental, geotechnical)
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience as a Coastal, Environmental, or Remediation Engineer
  • Experience with dredging, dredged material management, and coastal design, including the planning and implementation of sampling, data analysis, feasibility studies, design, and construction. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in contaminated sediments, including capping and dredging remediation projects.
  • Strong understanding of the application of engineering principles to engineering design, including cost estimating, development of plans and specifications, development of bid packages, development of dredge plans, and overseeing design implementation in the field (i.e., construction oversight and management)
  • Experience in project and program management including developing and managing scopes, detailed schedules, budgets, and sub-consultants
  • A Maryland Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to occasionally travel for projects or client meetings

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the engineer supporting development and design for projects involving dredging, capping, stream restoration, confined disposal facilities, beneficial reuse, beach nourishment, wetland construction, or coastal design concepts.
  • Leads engineering planning and design including, but not limited to, concept designs, alternative studies, basis of design requirements, construction drawings, technical reports and specifications, and construction cost estimates
  • Provides technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
  • Coordinates with geotechnical, coastal, and dredging engineers, planners, and biologists
  • Manages team and coordinates with client’s project manager and/or technical staff
  • Develops client relationships, leads proposals, and contribute to the sales process.
  • Analyzes complex problems and develops value-engineered solutions
  • Leads the preparation and coordination of project deliverables including construction documents
  • Ensures that work products are prepared in accordance with Anchor QEA’s quality management program
  • Ability to travel for field site visits and project meetings in various US locations
  • Participate in construction support activities including review of contractor requests for information and submittals and oversight of construction activities
