About The Position

Develops, supports, and executes strategies to promote policy that contributes to regional prosperity. Advances the policy priorities of the Dallas Regional Chamber by tracking key policy issues on all levels of government and providing analysis for the Senior Vice President of Public Policy, DRC leadership, and membership. Impacts policy decisions by communicating the perspective of the business community to elected officials and key stakeholders while ensuring that the priorities of our members are communicated to improve economic conditions and enhance the quality of life for the Dallas Region. Supports all affiliates of the DRC as required. Creates opportunities for membership to engage elected officials and policy influencers through targeted meetings and events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required and four to eight years related experience and/or training.
  • Professional and comprehensive experience in an applicable field and/or with an organization that is similar in mission and activities to the DRC.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the DRC, when the Senior Vice President is unable to, on policy initiatives at hearings, briefings, and meetings.
  • Communicates consistently with staff of elected officials at all levels of government.
  • Research legislative and public policy issues in the areas including but not limited to economic development, workforce, quality of life, public safety, infrastructure, and health care, and tech policy to formulate the DRC’s legislative priorities.
  • In coordination with the Senior Vice President, provides opportunities for members to interact with key elected officials through meetings and events.
  • In coordination with the Senior Vice President, initiates, organizes, and executes events to generate revenue for the DRC via sponsorships and participant investment.
  • Disseminates information to DRC members and elected officials’ offices in a timely manner.
  • Drafts advocacy letters to public officials, civic, and policy boards on behalf of DRC President/CEO, Senior Vice President of Public Policy, and senior leadership.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with members of local, regional, and statewide civic and policy boards and regional partners to promote DRC priorities.
  • Acts as liaison with local and regional external groups/committees to communicate DRC Policy priorities.
  • Acts as liaison to internal DRC departments to promote communication and accomplishment of organization-wide goals and objectives and communication of DRC Policy priorities.
  • With input from staff and membership, assists in creating the department’s legislative agenda for state and federal priorities to be approved by DRC leadership.
  • Leads planning and implementation for signature public policy events and other programs and events as scheduled.
  • Engages business community and regional leaders to develop and accomplish programs relating to public policy.
  • Supports fundraising and sponsorship opportunities to support key DRC initiatives and generate and retain revenue streams.
  • Supervises the maintenance of Public Policy council and task force rosters in CRM software; conducts quarterly audit to ensure rosters are up to date.
