About The Position

The Tarrant To & Through (T3) Partnership aims to increase postsecondary credentials and workforce success for Tarrant County students. Currently, only 39% of adults have an associate degree or higher, despite 65% of jobs requiring post-secondary education. T3 provides resources, financial assistance, and opportunities to students and families, equipping them for successful careers. Through collaboration with various organizations, we strive for inclusive pathways to education. Our goal is systemic change that positively impacts the entire Tarrant County community for generations to come. POSITION OVERVIEW The Managing Director of Finance is responsible for managing the organization’s Finance Operations This role manages the Finance department and ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with grant and funder requirements, and sound fiscal management practices. In addition to financial oversight, the position provides leadership and strategic supervision for T3’s Technology department. This includes managing the Director of Technology and a small team responsible for information systems, technology infrastructure, data integration, and platform innovation. Technological experience is not required; however, the role ensures that technology solutions align with the organization’s operational efficiency and risk management. Days/Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30AM – 5:00PM ( Min. 3 Days a week onsite; occasional evenings and weekends as needed.)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA required
  • At least seven (7) years of progressive nonprofit accounting experience, including staff supervision
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit GAAP and fund/grant accounting
  • Experience with grants management, compliance, and reporting required
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft office (Excel, Word etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to lead from the front, set a compelling vision, and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinker with attention to detail, creative energy, and strong collaborative instincts.
  • Excellent written and visual communication skills. Capable of distilling complex educational and workforce content into clear, engaging, and actionable messages.
  • Strong project management skills; experience using tools such as Asana or Trello.
  • Comfortable managing through ambiguity and adapting to fast-changing environments with a solution-oriented mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Salesforce, data integration tools (e.g., Jitterbit, MuleSoft), or educational data platforms is strongly preferred
  • Proven track record overseeing technology operations or managing enterprise systems, preferably in a nonprofit, education, or government setting
  • Experience supervising technical staff or cross-functional teams
  • Experience with digital platforms and enterprise systems such as Salesforce and ETL pipelines is a plus.
  • Ability to lead and supervise diverse technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated success aligning technology functions with strategic organizational goals.
  • Knowledge of data privacy standards (e.g., FERPA), cybersecurity best practices, and systems integration approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all finance team members, providing coaching, mentoring, and conducting annual performance reviews.
  • Lead the development, documentation, and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Serve as key liaison to the Board’s Finance Committee, supporting strategic discussions on financial health, sustainability planning and organizational risk management.
  • Manage the monthly closing process, including review of journal entries and bank reconciliations.
  • Manage daily cash flow and liquidity needs, including internal fund transfers.
  • Prepare payroll-related journal entries, including benefit and allocation adjustments.
  • Produce timely and accurate monthly financial reports including: Statement of Financial Position Statement of Activities with budget-to-actual and variance analysis Cash Flow Statement or Rolling Forecast Executive Summary Memo for Management
  • Collaborate closely with the Chair of the finance committee to prepare and present financial reports, annual budgets, and audit updates for board review and decision making.
  • Partner with the Development team to prepare grant proposal budgets and financial documentation.
  • Maintain an external grant reporting calendar and ensure all financial reporting to funders is accurate, timely, and compliant.
  • Track grant-related deferred revenue and grants receivable.
  • Work with program managers to monitor grant budgets, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Proactively resolve under- or overspending through budget modifications, extensions, or internal reallocations.
  • Provide internal budget reports and financial support to program and operations staff.
  • Support the annual financial review and/or audit process.
  • Coordinate with external accountants to facilitate timely and accurate Form 990 preparation.
  • Initiate and coordinate the annual budget process and develop periodic financial projections.
  • Provide high-level supervision and strategic direction to the Director of Technology and team members, fostering a collaborative, outcomes-oriented, and innovative-driven culture.
  • Set clear goals, monitor performance, and support professional development across the Technology department.
  • Ensure effective coordination and collaboration between Technology, Program, and Operations teams.
  • Collaborate with the Technology team to assess system needs, operational risks, and ensure data security, compliance (e.g., FERPA), and business continuity.
  • Work with the Technology team to develop annual budgets, manage vendor contracts, and ensure efficient and cost-effective investments in IT infrastructure and tools.
  • Monitor IT project timelines and performance metrics to ensure technology solutions support scalable and sustainable impact.
