MANAGING / CONSULTING GIS SPECIALIST Work Location: SACRAMENTO, CA ONSITE; occasional travel for Meetings, Trainings, Conferences and Field Offices. RESPONSIBILITIES Manage day-to-day operation and workload of the GIS Service Center staff. Provide staff support services including payroll, billing, benefits programs, health care programs, human resources, travel, and training. Coordinate staff efforts to implement Government policies and directives by scheduling and assigning tasks to GIS programmers, production specialists, and technicians Oversee GIS operations support and operator training. Provide supervisory and administrative direction on production tasks. Review GIS outputs for accuracy, adherence to design concepts and user standards, and progress against work schedules. Supervise the updating and maintenance of GIS databases. Ensure database integrity and appropriate user access in accordance with the GIS Management Plan. REQUIREMENTS Qualifications Related Experience Bachelor’s degree in geography, natural sciences, engineering, or computer sciences. Three (3) to five (5) years of GIS production experience using ESRI software. Three (3) or more years of experience using Python and/or ModelBuilder. Systems and network administration experience supporting GIS and CAD operations. Database management operations experience. Experience analyzing GIS system requirements and defining work requirements. Experience designing and developing GIS production tools and user interface tools. Experience analyzing, designing, and developing GIS and program language components to produce, test, and implement mathematical modeling systems functional within GIS. Experience estimating costs for GIS tasks, including staffing and hardware utilization requirements. Experience projecting GIS Service Center workloads and recommending hardware and software upgrades. Experience developing enterprise systems and applications using ESRI server technologies, including JavaScript APIs and online GIS platforms.
