Job Summary Landrum & Brown is seeking a Managing Consultant with deep expertise in airport terminal planning and architectural program delivery to join our Aviation Planning practice. This role is ideal for a technically strong consultant who thrives on owning and delivering complex planning and facilities assignments, serving as a trusted technical advisor to airport clients, and shaping high-quality, implementable solutions. This position is focused on technical leadership and delivery excellence, rather than people management. You will play a central role in the development and execution of terminal planning and architectural scope, from early visioning and requirements definition through concept development, alternatives analysis, and documentation that supports downstream design and implementation. This position may be based out of Denver, Dallas, Chicago, Jacksonville, FL, or Cincinnati.

Requirements

• Typically, 8+ years of experience in airport planning, terminal planning, architectural programming, or aviation-focused consulting.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Planning, Engineering, Aviation, or a related discipline .
• Demonstrated experience delivering terminal planning or facilities-related projects for commercial service airports.
• Familiarity with airline requirements, passenger processing, commercial facilities, and airport operational constraints.
• Strong technical foundation in terminal planning and architectural program development .
• Ability to independently manage technical deliverables and complex planning tasks.
• Clear, concise communicator with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and quality.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; familiarity with planning diagrams, space programs, and planning graphics is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical lead for airport terminal planning and architectural assignments, including:
• Terminal master planning and programming
• Space requirements development and adjacency planning
• Conceptual layouts, phasing strategies, and capacity analysis
• Integration of terminal planning with airfield, landside, and commercial planning inputs
• Develop and review technical deliverables to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with client objectives and industry best practices.
• Translate operational, airline, passenger, and commercial requirements into practical planning and architectural solutions.
• Provide informed technical input to support decision-making at key project milestones.
• Act as a primary technical point of contact for clients on assigned projects.
• Work directly with airport planning, facilities, and operations staff to define scope, validate assumptions, and refine alternatives.
• Clearly communicate technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive-level stakeholders.
• Support client workshops, stakeholder meetings, and design charrettes as a technical facilitator and advisor.
• Manage assigned workstreams or full projects, with responsibility for scope, schedule, and technical quality.
• Coordinate closely with architects, engineers, specialty consultants, and internal L&B disciplines to ensure integrated and consistent outputs.
• Support project financial performance through effective scope control, work planning, and adherence to budgets.
• Contribute to proposal development and interviews by defining technical approaches, scopes of work, and staffing plans.
• Stay current on trends in terminal planning, passenger experience, sustainability, and evolving airport design standards.
• Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing, technical standards, and best practices within L&B’s aviation planning practice.
• Participate selectively in industry forums and conferences as a technical contributor.
