Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Three to five years of restaurant management experience, preferably in a steakhouse, fine-dining, or high volume full-service environment.
  • Proven experience managing FOH operations, with strong working knowledge of BOH coordination.
  • Effective communication skills and excellent employee management abilities.
  • Knowledge of various computer systems related to food and beverage operations such as Agilysys & Open Table.
  • Excellent customer service and people skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with persons of diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational and training skills.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Iowa Department of Health laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of liquor laws pertaining to distribution, security, handling, storage and minors.
  • Knowledge of inventory practices, labor/cost of goods analysis and profit & loss statements.
  • Primarily indoor environment.
  • Long periods of standing and walking.
  • Lifting and moving of tables and chairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and push carts up to 150 pounds.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and long and varied hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with premium proteins, wine service, and elevated guest expectations preferred.
  • Experience with collective bargaining environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting daily pre-shift meetings to review service fundamentals, menu changes, specials, promotions, contests, and guest service issues with staff.
  • Review upcoming reservations and events to ensure proper staffing based on projected volume.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and issuing discipline as needed, and ensure staffing levels are adequate and meet budget requirements.
  • Set annual financial forecasts and budgets with a strategy in place to achieve financial goals.
  • Interact regularly with guests throughout service to inquire about satisfaction and respond promptly to any needs or complaints.
