The Vendor Management Manager is responsible for operational leadership and execution of Old Dominion Freight Line’s Vendor Management program. This role manages day‑to‑day vendor lifecycle activities, risk assessments, onboarding, monitoring, and offboarding ensuring vendors meet contractual, operational, and compliance expectations. The Vendor Manaagement Manager serves as a trusted partner and advisor to ODFL business leaders, Legal, IT Security, Risk, and Finance translating Vendor Management governance and standards into consistent, scalable practices across the organization. This role provides leadership to vendor management staff and plays a critical role in advancing program maturity and adoption.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5–7 years of experience in Vendor / Supplier Management, Procurement, Risk Management, Compliance, or related functions.
  • Hands‑on experience managing vendor onboarding, risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring programs.
  • Skills & Competencies: Strong ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation of sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with SAP SLP or comparable vendor management platforms.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field required (or equivalent experience).

  • Experience within transportation, logistics, or similarly complex operational environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end‑to‑end vendor lifecycle including onboarding, monitoring, remediation, and offboarding, ensuring adherence to Vendor Management policies, procedures, and timelines.
  • Advise and partner with business owners on vendor management best practices, performance oversight, and risk management, reinforcing accountability and informed decision‑making.
  • Coordinate vendor requirements, documentation, approvals, and lifecycle milestones across business stakeholders and internal partners (Legal, IT Security, Risk, Finance, and other relevant areas).
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with business owners, functional leaders, and vendors, serving as the primary liaison to drive alignment, effective collaboration, and issue resolution.
  • Lead oversight of vendor performance and risk activities, including business reviews, issue escalation, and mitigation of operational, financial, and compliance risks, with enhanced focus on critical and high‑risk vendors.
  • Collaborate and support Business Owners to ensure vendor compliance with contractual obligations, internal policies, and Vendor Management program requirements throughout the vendor lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Business Owners and Finance to oversee spend monitoring and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Own vendor management tools, data, and reporting, ensuring data integrity, executive‑level reporting, and accurate documentation to support governance and leadership decision‑making.
  • Lead, coach, and develop vendor management team members while contributing to training, change management, and initiatives that advance the maturity of the Vendor Management Program.
  • Chair the Corporate Vendor Management Committee.
  • Present to Corporate Executive Steering Committee periodically.
