As a team member at SHAZAM, you’ll be an essential part of our mission as we work together strengthening financial institutions. This is a hybrid position based out of our Johnston, IA office. What we’re looking for: SHAZAM is looking for a Manager, UNIX Technology to join our team. In this role, you will lead, mentor, and develop the UNIX Technology Team while partnering closely with other leaders to execute strategic initiatives. This role oversees all UNIX administration functions, including hardware, software, and third‑party technologies, ensuring a stable, scalable, and secure production environment. The manager stays current on industry trends, provides staffing recommendations, conducts performance reviews and ongoing coaching, and contributes to long‑term strategic planning for the organization’s UNIX ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 3 years experience directly managing teams and personnel.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in UNIX/Linux environments, with a strong working knowledge of system administration concepts and UNIX/Linux operating systems.
  • Knowledge of industry standard UNIX hardware platforms preferred. Knowledge of industry standard SAN and Virtualization preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and current Internet technologies preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IT security best practices.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and evaluate team members to achieve departmental goals, including performance management and regular appraisals.
  • Provide guidance on policies, procedures, priorities, and technical issues to support staff effectiveness.
  • Monitor team performance trends and ensure complex projects are properly planned, reviewed, and budgeted.
  • Manage departmental budgeting, staffing needs, and incident‑reporting procedures.
  • Ensure strong security and compliance practices (including PCI) and maintain effective monitoring and escalation for all critical UNIX systems.
  • Maintain adequate staffing and coverage to support customer and production needs.
