About The Position

As the Manager of Turbomachinery Engineering, you will lead the team through the design, analysis, and development of all of Relativity’s turbomachinery products. This role will require managing a large team, spanning many highly technical disciplines. You will be responsible for shaping how turbomachinery is designed, developed, and evaluated at Relativity, setting team and department-wide roadmaps to support the development of Terran-R. To be successful in this role, you should be capable of leading collaborative projects to completion with minimal oversight and supporting your team in doing the same. You should be a self-starter who is always looking for ways to improve yourself and your team, while also being willing to learn from both your peers and direct reports. You should be someone who cares deeply about the people on your team & is invested in their growth. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science, engineering, technology, or mathematics field
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience in a complex system development environment
  • Experience leading and developing a high-performing engineering team by driving technical excellence, fostering talent growth, managing performance, and leading recruitment efforts
  • Experience with turbomachinery development
  • Experience applying fluid, thermal, structural, and mechanical design fundamentals
  • Demonstrated drive to deliver on ambitious schedules, even and especially if unconventional & creative solutions are necessary to do so

Nice To Haves

  • Masters or doctorate degree in a relevant technical field
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and associated commercial tools
  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and associated commercial tools
  • Experience with computer aided design (CAD) software
  • Experience designing and analyzing turbomachinery components including inducers, impellers, turbines, diffusers, bearings and seals, etc.
  • Experience developing turbopumps for liquid propulsion rocket engines
  • Experience working in a flight development program
