About The Position

The Level 3 Trauma Program Manager has accountability providing management for the trauma service department. You will work in close collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director in the organization of services and systems necessary to provide quality patient care, promoting a coordinated multidisciplinary team effort to ensure optimal patient outcomes, and the overall direction and coordination of all aspects and activities of the trauma service. The Trauma Program Manager will plan and implement clinical protocols and practice management guidelines. You will also monitor the care of hospital patient; coordinate process, performance and quality improvement activities of the Trauma Service while providing and coordinating education for the Trauma Service within the hospital.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Bachelors in Nursing — Required
• Masters in nursing — preferred but not required
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
• Basic Life Support Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardio Life Support- Advance Cardiac Life Support required
• 5 or more years of hospital Trauma, ED or Critical care nursing
• Experience in a leadership role
• Must attend Trauma Outcome Performance Improvement Course (TOPIC) within 6 months of hire if never attended

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates the operational and clinical aspects and activities of the hospital trauma service.
• Ensure provision of quality, cost effective care in accordance with the hospitals’ missions, strategic plans, goals, all policies and procedures, and external regulations and requirements.
• Develops and maintains appropriate and required clinical, administrative, performance improvement, patient safety and financial data analysis and statistical reports in accordance with the Texas Department of State Health Services EMS Trauma System requirements and the American College of Surgeons Trauma Center criteria which includes maintenance of the Registry and Trauma Center verification.
• Performs supervisory functions for the assigned program to ensure adequate and competent staffing of the department, program, section or unit by interviewing and recommending or approving the hiring of new staff members; providing or arranging for training for Direct reports and staff; evaluating staff performance; and recommending and /or approving personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, salary changes, requests for time off, etc; responds to employee complaints and grievances; initiates and/or recommends disciplinary action.
• Oversees and assist with Methodist Injury Prevention Program development and maintenance.
• Develops quality filters, audits and case reviews to identify trends and sentinel events and assist in developing corrective activities.
• In collaboration with the medical director, assuring coordination and integration of quality, performance and process improvement plans and activities.
• Ensures clinical progression toward defined quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
• Monitors the performance of hospital departments and clinical services, identifying to the appropriate manager or administration areas needing improvement or that can benefit from enhancement in both individual and team functions to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintains continual review of quality department documents regarding incidents relating to trauma service, brings issues and concerns to the attention of the appropriate manager or administrator, and monitors the correction of identified problems.
• Facilitates organizational change, promotes professional and clinical advancement, and develops clinical judgment through role modeling, teaching, coaching and/or mentoring.
• Participates in community events, meetings, and maintain relationships with referring agencies and community members throughout the region.
• Represents the trauma service on unit based trauma committees, county activities pertinent to pre-hospital and trauma care.
• Other duties as assigned.
