The Manager of Transportation Safety is responsible for implementing QXO’s enterprise Transportation Safety Programs within an assigned business unit. Reporting to the Director of Transportation Safety, this role ensures that corporate strategy, standards, and processes are effectively executed at the operational level. The Manager focuses on regulatory compliance, fleet risk reduction, and the successful adoption of safety technologies and data-driven processes across the business unit. The ideal candidate brings strong operational knowledge, excellent cross-functional partnership skills, and the ability to translate enterprise expectations into consistent, effective field execution that protects people, reduces risk, and strengthens QXO’s culture of safety and compliance. This position can be based out of: Atlanta, GA; Coppell, TX and/or Herndon, VA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, Transportation, Logistics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in transportation safety, fleet operations, or combination based in risk reduction and regulatory compliance
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other international transportation safety regulations.
  • Experience implementing safety programs, policies, or technologies in a distributed or field-based environment.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills; able to influence without authority.
  • Competence in using technology and data to drive decisions and enhance operational performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHST, CDS, or equivalent.
  • Experience with telematics, fleet safety systems, or digital compliance tools.
  • Proficiency with data analytics platforms (Tableau, Power BI, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Execute QXO’s enterprise Transportation Safety Program within the assigned business unit, ensuring alignment with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and operational realities.
  • Support business unit compliance with transportation safety regulations, including FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and local requirements.
  • Implement core safety programs such as driver qualification, hours-of-service compliance, collision mitigation, and telematics utilization.
  • Monitor and report on transportation safety performance, providing field insights and identifying opportunities to improve program adoption and outcomes.
  • Partner with the Business Units field EHS team to roll out new processes, tools, and technologies.
  • Coordinate cross-functional safety initiatives and support business unit readiness and change management.
  • Partner with Operations, Transportation, Facilities, HR, Talent Acquisition, and EHS teams to embed transportation safety expectations into daily workflows and standard operating procedures.
  • Support incident response activities, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Identify operational risks and recommend appropriate engineering or administrative controls.
  • Promote a culture of safety through frequent field engagement, coaching, and visible leadership.
  • Deliver transportation safety training developed by corporate Learning & Development, ensuring consistency and high-quality execution.
  • Reinforce safe-driving behaviors through communication, engagement, and recognition programs.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for field leaders, providing guidance on transportation safety practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor safety KPIs within the business unit and support initiatives to achieve performance targets.
  • Use data analytics tools and telematics dashboards to identify trends, assess risks, and advise operations on opportunities to improve safety.
  • Support deployment, adoption, and troubleshooting of transportation safety technologies including telematics, camera systems, and digital compliance tools.
  • Provide feedback to the Director on program performance, field challenges, and opportunities for program enhancement.
