The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is seeking an experienced Manager to oversee the Training and Education program for the university’s campus-wide research administration operation. The OVPR oversees the university- wide operational functions and strategic initiatives of CMU’s $620 million research enterprise and associated top-ranked technology transfer and startup activities, which span the university’s academic colleges, research institutes and centers, and the Software Engineering Institute, a federally funded research and development center. The OVPR is a large and complex organization that is responsible for research and innovation strategy, operations, and administration for the university. This position is key to CMU’s ambitious goals to deliver best-in-class research administration services, processes, and systems to the entire campus. Reporting to the Chief Research Operations Officer, the Manager, Training and Educations Program for Research Administration will be part of a matrixed team, collaborating closely with CMU’s Finance Division and Computing Services. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing training and education resources for faculty and staff, including a comprehensive onboarding and upskilling program for college-based research administrators. You will work closely with CMU’s colleges, departments, centers, institutes to ensure that the program is service oriented, engaging, and effective for everyone.
