About The Position

Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking an experienced Manager - Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Practice in New York, NY or New Jersey. This is a hybrid position, offering the flexibility to work both remotely and in-office while leading impactful transportation projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in New Jersey and New York.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in traffic-related design and traffic/transportation engineering.
  • Familiarity with local client design standards, including NJDOT, NJTA, NYCDOT, and NYSDOT.
  • Hands-on experience in civil/roadway design, intersection design, and traffic signal system design.
  • Experience applying standard principles to traffic engineering studies to identify and evaluate alternatives.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with clients and internal teams, building strong working relationships.
  • Track record of successful business development and strategic planning for key pursuits.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in writing and developing project proposals and letters of interest.
  • Strong client relationships and willingness to lead bid, proposal, and presentation efforts.

  • Experience with CDOT, MassDOT, MTA, and PANYNJ.

Responsibilities

  • Secure, plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of small to large-scale, multi-discipline traffic projects with a high degree of technical complexity.
  • Reinforce and continue to establish strategic market positioning and service offerings that align with client needs and company initiatives.
  • Serve as a Project Manager, Task Manager, and/or Traffic Technical Advisor on projects and pursuits.
  • Mentor traffic staff and provide guidance on technical and project management aspects.
  • Prepare traffic impact studies, traffic operations modeling & simulations, Maintenance of Traffic plans, traffic signal designs, and signing & pavement marking designs.
  • Market Traffic Analysis and Engineering services, assisting in proposal preparation for public and private sector clients.
  • Utilize HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and other traffic engineering software.
  • Perform quality, schedule, and cost control functions on assigned projects and tasks.
  • Manage and deliver multiple project commitments effectively.
  • Support internal teams and service outside clients directly.
