About The Position

This role is part of the Amazon Infrastructure Supply Chain (AIS) organization, the team responsible for planning, sourcing, and delivering the physical infrastructure that powers Amazon Web Services and Amazon's global operations. Within AIS, this role sits in the Amazon Commodities Program (ACP) team, which owns the supply chain and commercial strategy for key hardware categories critical to server infrastructure. As Senior Manager, Data Center Energy Storage, you will lead the strategy, supply chain, and operational execution for Battery Backup Units (BBUs) and Supercapacitor systems, while building the organizational capability to scale into next-generation Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) as our infrastructure evolves. You will work across Hardware Engineering, Capacity Planning, Finance, Trade, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to ensure energy storage solutions are delivered on time, at scale, and aligned to our long-term power architecture roadmap.

  • MBA or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical field
  • Strong technical knowledge of power electronics, including high-voltage power architectures (e.g., 800V HVDC) and power conversion systems

  • Demonstrated success developing talent pipelines and promoting from within

Responsibilities

  • Lead and influence cross-functional partners across Engineering, Finance, Operations, and Capacity Planning without direct authority.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across the team.
  • Represent the energy storage function in senior leadership reviews, business planning cycles, and cross-organizational forums.
  • Hire, develop, and retain a high-performing team of category managers and supply chain professionals across the energy storage portfolio.
  • Partner with Hardware Engineering to evaluate new energy storage architectures, translating technology roadmaps into supply chain strategies and sourcing timelines.
  • Lead supply chain and operational readiness for emerging energy storage technologies, including BESS integration into future data center power infrastructure.
  • Drive end-to-end supply chain execution for BBU and Supercapacitor programs, from qualification through mass production ramp, ensuring on-time delivery to data center deployment schedules.
  • Enable new platform transitions, including cell chemistry upgrades and power architecture changes (e.g., 48V to 800V HVDC), managing supply readiness across each phase.
  • Own the global sourcing strategy and commercial agreements for BBU and Supercapacitor supply, ensuring supplier priority and competitive positioning across multi-year demand cycles.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, contract execution, and cost optimization initiatives across the energy storage supply base.
  • Develop and maintain sub-tier component visibility for critical energy storage materials, proactively identifying supply risks.
  • Partner with Finance and Capacity Planning to align procurement commitments with infrastructure build plans and capital budgets.
  • Establish and track supplier scorecards, performance metrics, and escalation frameworks to maintain delivery commitments.
  • Ensure all energy storage products meet regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance requirements across global deployment regions.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives across the energy storage supply chain, including responsible sourcing, end-of-life battery management, and carbon footprint reduction.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Environmental teams to stay ahead of evolving regulations on battery chemistries, transport, and disposal.
  • Develop and execute a circular economy strategy for BBU and Supercapacitor assets, including refurbishment, reuse, and recycling programs.
  • Maintain supplier compliance with conflict minerals, chemical substance restrictions, and ESG standards.
