Together, we can create a legacy marked by innovation, excitement, and energy. Albemarle is looking for an Operations Superintendent to lead our Zeolite Production Unit. This position is accountable for safety, environmental adherence, improvements in productivity and cost, as well as overall team performance. The position requires a high degree of technical knowledge and an ability to work with all organizations to accomplish business objectives. Direct reports will consist of engineers and supervisors. Direct and indirect reports total more than 25 employees.

Requirements

5+ years in an industrial setting.
BS, Chemical Engineering.

Responsibilities

Sustain an operating culture that has a high degree of safety awareness and environmental responsibility.
Manage and develop Area Supervisors and Operations Engineers, and hold them accountable for day-to-day and technical leadership of the Area.
Ensure Area Employees comply with site and corporate safety and environmental policies.
Focus on continual improvement of the area.
Ensure the needs of the Area are addressed proactively (Staffing, CAPEX, Maintenance, Costs, etc.).
Escalate issues as needed to minimize their impact.
Review and approve MOCs, Incident reports, operating procedures, and category 3 work permits.
Set daily / weekly priorities of the area.
Prepare AOPs for the area.
Generate operating plans so as to meet Business Team requirements.
Regularly consult with Operations team, engineering, TR, environmental regarding capital projects related to HSE, continuity, growth, and cost reduction projects.
Audit area permits and engage with field on housekeeping, JAS, FJO, 5S execution to ensure continuous improvement.
Monitor and ensure regulatory compliance is met - PSM, RMP, DHS, etc.
Monitor and ensure quality standards (ISO) are met in operating unit.
Support the site in Journey to Excellence by driving improvements in operating discipline, systems, quality, costs, and HSE performance.
Monitor utilizations of raw materials and ensure appropriate inventory management is in place.
Provides overall leadership of the Operating Areas.
Supervises activities to ensure safety, quality, required production, and environmental compliance of the production units in the Area.
Engage in the proactive improvement of the Area.
Maintenance - Effectively communicates long term needs and priorities.
Operations Analyst - Regular communications regarding logistical needs of Area and provide data required for production/regulatory reporting.
Operations Manager - Utilizes technical expertise for continuous improvement of Area.
Business Team - Understand and respond to production /quality requirements.
Safety and Regulatory Advisors - Enforce all site required programs / initiatives.
Maintenance Planning and Scheduling Efficiency.
