About The Position

The Manager, Storage Engineering is responsible for designing, supporting, and securing the organization's primary storage and backup systems. This role focuses on safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of enterprise data across the Medical Center, while also developing strategies to enhance the security posture of the storage infrastructure. The incumbent will lead efforts in training staff, implementing hybrid cloud storage solutions, and ensuring compliance with security controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in infrastructure and storage theories.
  • 10 years of experience in storage architecture and virtualization technologies.
  • 4+ years of experience managing complex storage and backup infrastructure.
  • 3 years of experience in planning and implementing new system infrastructure solutions.
  • 3 years of experience managing and mentoring staff members.
  • Experience with cloud storage and hybrid storage solutions.
  • Experience with Data Tiering architecture solutions.
  • Experience managing vendor contracts.
  • Experience with data replication technologies and geo-redundant infrastructure solutions.
  • Excellent customer service, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience managing NetApp storage solutions.
  • 2 years of experience managing NetApp Storage Grid.
  • Experience with Data Governance committee formation and sensitive data classification.
  • Experience with PowerShell or Ansible scripting/automation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement storage infrastructure to meet the Medical Center's demands.
  • Develop technical roadmaps and budgetary requirements for storage solutions.
  • Evaluate current storage landscape and recommend cost-reduction strategies.
  • Oversee storage implementations to ensure compliance with configuration standards.
  • Develop procedures for protecting storage data against cyber-attacks.
  • Coordinate with business units to assess storage needs and manage procurement processes.
  • Ensure proper backup schedules and conduct routine recovery testing.
  • Create runbooks and workflows for ongoing support of storage infrastructure.
  • Assist with data migrations to cloud storage within Microsoft 365.
  • Centralize storage and backups across the Health Care System.
  • Conduct annual reviews of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide technical coaching.
  • Provide second and third level support for performance issues in storage infrastructure.
  • Research and recommend changes for future system growth.
  • Plan and oversee upgrades to storage and backup systems.
