About The Position

Our Mission is to improve the health of the communities we serve through contemporary, innovative, quality healthcare solutions. This is a Fulltime 40hrs/week position. The Sterile Processing department is a fast-paced environment responsible for preparing all surgical instruments for patients in the Main OR, CVOR, and Birthing Center, processing approximately 10,000 instruments per month. The department is certified through the International Association of Healthcare Central Supply Materials Management. Freeman Health System is the only locally owned, not-for-profit health system in the area, focusing on meeting the health and wellness needs of both the community and its employees. Located in Joplin, Missouri, Freeman is a 460-bed, three-hospital system that provides comprehensive healthcare services to an area of over 450,000 people across Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. The system includes Freeman Hospital West, Freeman Hospital East, Freeman Neosho Hospital, Ozark Center (the largest provider of behavioral health services in the area), two urgent care clinics, numerous physician clinics, and various specialty services.

Requirements

  • CRCST: Current certification through an accredited Sterile Processing organization or Certified Surgical Tech.
  • CIS: Certified Instrument Specialist
  • CER: Certified Endoscope Re-Processor
  • CHL: Certified Healthcare Leadership
  • For Employees currently in role as of 11/16/2025 Must obtain certs within 120 days

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily operation of Sterile Processing.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new projects, educational training, and orientation program.
  • Assures the standards of operation comply with standards set by regulatory agencies.
  • Provide leadership and management to staff.
  • Interacts with vendors, physicians, and other support departments.
  • Maintains a high consistent standard of instrumentation to assure that the department will meet HFAP requirements in a cost-effective manner.
  • Responsible for budget and tracking expenditures.
  • Develop departmental goals standards and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of Freeman Health System.
