About The Position

CRST's maintenance operations are critical to delivering safe, reliable transportation across our network. Our shops support a wide range of equipment and operating models, requiring strong leadership, operational discipline, and a relentless focus on safety and quality. As a Manager - Service, you'll own the day-to-day and financial performance of an assigned maintenance shop. You'll lead supervisors, foremen, and technicians, manage the shop-level budget, and ensure maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with CRST standards and business goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience leading maintenance or shop operations with direct people leadership responsibility
  • Strong understanding of equipment maintenance, repair processes, and shop workflows
  • Ability to manage budgets, control costs, and improve operational efficiency

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year degree or applicable work experience with demonstrated success
  • Experience managing high-volume or complex maintenance operations
  • Proven ability to drive performance improvements through metrics and process discipline

Responsibilities

  • Own the operational and financial performance of an assigned maintenance shop
  • Lead, coach, and develop shop leadership and technicians, including hiring and performance management
  • Manage labor and operating costs while driving productivity and quality outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with maintenance procedures, safety standards, and documentation requirements
  • Monitor performance metrics, identify trends, and implement improvements to optimize shop operations
  • Partner with Operations and other stakeholders to support service continuity and fleet reliability
  • Provide technical guidance and escalation support for complex maintenance issues
