About The Position

Keolis is seeking a Manager of Safety & Training to join their team in Nantucket, MA. Salary Range: $85k - $100k Knowledge and Experience: High school diploma required; college degree preferred 3 years of progressive transit experience preferred Knowledgeable with DOT policies, FTA, OSHA, NIMS, EPA standards and ADA requirements Experience developing and implementing safety program plans and procedures; conducting investigations, analyzing data, and identifying and recommending corrective action Must maintain confidentiality and safeguarding of sensitive material Conducting oral presentations, relaying technical information in understandable terms Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce Intermediate knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office Suite CPR, AED and First Aid Certification (Provided by the Company) Skills: Possess a working knowledge of adult education principles and practices Possess the skills necessary to write and express oneself orally in a logical, comprehensive, and intelligent manner, as well as good organizational skills Possess the temperament necessary for maintaining amiable relations with various levels of company personnel Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word Ability to interpret and explain regulations to others Must have excellent communication skills (written and oral). Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize. Strong analytical and reporting skills Transportation Dispatching Software knowledge desired Previous experience with Onboard Technology for Transit Systems Key Accountabilities: Training Responsible for selecting, hiring and training qualified candidates for employment Able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the business Must maintain confidentiality and safeguarding of sensitive material Conducting oral presentations, relaying technical information in understandable terms Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed Communicates job requirements and responsibilities to drivers Works closely with Human Resources to ensure driver hiring and compliance process; interviewing and driver selection; collecting applications; drug/alcohol testing; DOT physicals; motor vehicle records checks and additional certifications as required Provides direction and guidance to location trainers Develops, teaches and monitors contents (i.e. TAPTCO) of classroom training to ensure compliance Overseas and schedules re-certifications and re-training to include but not limited to onboard evaluations and trail checks Designs and delivers operator training and safety courses; trains new drivers and retrains those involved in accidents Creates and maintains all department-related files as required Strategic Planning and Reporting Coordinate the monthly safety reporting, bringing together the performance trends in our safety KPIs, delivery against location safety plans and safety risk assessment Ensure program management of Samsara safety systems, reducing risky behaviors through progressive safety campaigns, etc. Ensure the location leadership team and the client are informed of safety performance, with timely alerts provided per the contract Drive a continuous improvement culture in safety performance by working collaboratively with location, resulting in all leading and lagging indicator improvements e.g., AFR and IFR Chairs Safety and Accident Review committees Investigates incidents, accidents, and work-related injuries including accident investigation, accident reports, accident files, accident register, and follows up with the claim's office and adjusters as necessary Effectively direct Drug and Alcohol Program as the responsible DER for FTA/DOT testing for location to ensure complete federal and corporate compliance. Manage Third Party Administrators and Vendors Safety Management System Lead the site implementation of the Safety Management System Plan, comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and tools to enhance compliance with corporate direction in efforts to reduce accidents/injuries in the workplace Monitor compliance with the KTA’s SMS policies and procedures, conducting an annual safety audit Ensure all relevant statutory and regulatory safety polices are applied and adhered to Assists client’s maintenance personnel in ensuring compliance with environmental policies and regulations as needed Management of Onboard Surveillance Systems Safety Assurance Monitor and evaluate the continued effectiveness of risk control strategies Identify and assess new hazards introduced in the workplace Oversee ongoing monitoring and recording of safety performance Safety Promotion Establish and maintain a culture of safety so that safety is the front of mind consideration for all employees and a way of life within the organization Contribute to the safety culture through displaying exemplary safety-oriented behaviors Ensure a just culture within the organization where all employees are treated fairly and justly and understand their contribution to the organization’s safety philosophy Oversees classroom and designated instructors to ensure quality, consistency, and efficiency in training methods Oversees design and delivery of driver training and safety courses including new hire and accident retraining and may serve as back-up safety trainer Plan, schedule and deliver monthly safety meetings Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Requirements
