About The Position

MTC is proud to operate the Inland Empire Job Corps Center in San Bernardino, CA, where staff provide quality services to local youth. The Manager, Safety/Security & Transportation directly supervises the safety officer, senior security officer, security guards, substitute security guards, and drivers. This role is responsible for the management of center security, which includes safety, fire protection, security, and liaison with law enforcement and other support agencies, in compliance with government and management directives. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years related experience required, one of which should be in a supervisory capacity.
  • Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises the safety officer, senior security officer, security guards, substitute security guards, and drivers.
  • Responsible for the management of center security which includes safety, fire protection, security, and liaison with law enforcement and other support agencies, in compliance with government and management directives.
  • Plan, coordinate and manage the administrative and safety and security activities of the department; serve as liaison between center and immediate community in security and law enforcement matters.
  • Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance and implement departmental and personnel changes as approved by the director, community life and coordinated with the manager, human resources prior to implementation.
  • Develop departmental budget; monitor and control expenditures, and review and recommend changes to budget authorization.
  • Develop and implement new and revised policies and procedures affecting safety and security; coordinate with other departments promote center objectives.
  • Regularly assess and audit department for contractual compliance and quality of services to students; prepare audit and assessment reports.
  • Regularly inspect facility; maintain quality standards.
  • Coordinate timely reports to the center director, particularly after normal duty hours and on weekends and holidays.
  • Provide fire protection. Conduct frequent fire drills and inspections of the facility.
  • Develop and conduct orientation and in-service training programs for staff and students; train staff and students in safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct periodic safety and security audits to identify deficiencies and recommend changes.
  • Provide records and reports of departmental activities upon request by management, insurance underwriters, DOL and other government agencies.
  • Coordinate with other center staff concerning security matters and conduct security related investigations; coordinate safety and security meetings with the manager, human resources.
  • Develop and monitor schedules for 24-hour, seven day per week coverage.
  • Coordinate searches of students’ rooms and belongings. Ensure proper protocols are followed.
  • Act as liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies and officials.
  • Provide for the safety and security of students on center grounds through the direction and monitoring of the mobile advisor staff.
  • Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
  • Participate in student employability programs and activities.
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
  • Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
