Plans for, leads, coordinates and facilitates the provision of quality care and service for patients requiring respiratory care. Facilitates the procurement of supplies/equipment and provides for adequate numbers and mix of staff to deliver respiratory care. Provides leadership, consultation and collaboration with administrators and other members of the health care team to design, evaluate and improve patient care systems and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Respiratory Care, or Associates in Respiratory Care with Bachelors in related field which may include Business or Health Care Management.
  • Previous Supervisory or Management Experience Required.
  • Licensed RCP in the State of New Hampshire.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • ACLS required upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Manages the hiring process. Plans adequate staffing and adjustments on a daily basis, based on patient needs and staff skill mix. Evaluates and manages performance of staff members, to include coaching and performance management processes.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates unit and organizational policies, procedures and goals. Ensures that polices are consistent with the organization.
  • Encourages, supports and provides educational opportunities for staff development.
  • Develops and maintains operational budget for the unit. Monitors patient revenues, expenses and operation expenses (salaries and capital) and provides required reports to administration.
  • Ensures that respiratory specific equipment meet necessary standards. Monitors utilization of equipment.
  • Fosters an environment with open communication and ensures decision making at the point of service.
  • Assumes accountability for continuous quality and regulatory management directives. Ensures quality and appropriateness of patient care. Facilitates and monitors activities related to the delivery of patient care, assuring evidenced based practice and minimum practice standards are achieved in clinical areas.
  • Administers respiratory care to patients, as needed, to maintain clinical skills. Assesses particular patient requirements or as support to patient care unit staff.
  • Collaborates with patients, families and the health care team to support the patient plan of care.
  • Support education and staff development through participation and support of research, education, informatics, quality and patient safety, and professional development. Along with the Clinical Specialist for respiratory care, assumes responsibility for the orientation of new staff. Collaborates with Clinical Instructors in planning, implementation and evaluation of students’ clinical experience. Collaborates with the Clinical Specialist to educate, train and develop staff to assure competency and provide professional growth and development.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
