About The Position

As the Manager, Reliability & Spinner Shop Operations, you will ensure the supply of spinners to all Knauf North America insulation production plants by maintaining adequate finished goods inventory and scheduling production using monthly projections and usage rates. You will maintain the spinner finished goods specifications and quality standards expected of internal customers. You will manage up to four production shifts with two spinner technicians each, in a facility capable of 24/7 operation, and you will regularly interact with the Alloy Coordinator to ensure the constant flow of new spinners into production facilities. Additionally, you will support the R&D efforts of part design, metallurgy, and conversion of trial parts, as well as support the global efforts of machine reliability, continuous improvement, and maintenance excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science or related field
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Minimum five (5) years’ management experience
  • Ability to facilitate continuous improvement of the facility, process and personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage equipment maintenance, OEM contacts, and contracts.
  • Ability to effectively integrate performance planning and development processes.
  • Ability to complete all tasks in a timely manner under limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Manage spinner supply and production for all Knauf North America fiberglass insulation plants.
  • Track and report all spinner shop operational efficiencies.
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and assist in performing scheduled maintenance of all conversion equipment, including mill, drilling machine, balancer, and slinging device.
  • Develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives for safety, product quality, profitability, efficiencies, and operator knowledge.
  • Lead, manage, and coach Spinner Shop Technicians.
  • Maintain a safe operation, including proper equipment design, proper maintenance of equipment, and safe work habits for Shop Technicians and interfacing department members.
  • Serve as the liaison with Operations, Research and Development, and Corporate Process Development and Purchasing.
  • Collaborate with peers of the KIT-Vise’ facility to share ideas and experience.
  • Provide technical expertise in the areas of alloy use and composition as requested by Metallurgist.
  • Interact with the appropriate Purchasing and P&PD personnel to track the use of alloy, castings, and finished goods, including internal and external audits and purchasing records.
  • Ensure ongoing development and upskilling within the department by scheduling training sessions, specialized classes, seminars, etc.
  • Serve as a productivity improvement manager for all spinner shop operations globally with a focus on improvement of machine reliability and improvement of piece output per capita.
  • Demonstrate an ability to develop a maintenance excellence culture to support all spinner work cells, which will transform ad hock methods into a world class preventative maintenance methodology.
