About The Position

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This is a full-time, on-site position located at the Akron, Ohio Headquarters. Position Summary The Manager, Regulated Settlements leads critical financial and operational processes related to PJM market participation. This role ensures accurate data submission, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders. The position plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity, supporting regulatory initiatives, and driving operational efficiency within FirstEnergy’s wholesale market activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in energy markets, finance, or related fields, including supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of PJM practices and procedures.
  • Solid analytical skills and ability to oversee work involving large datasets.
  • Ability to leverage reporting and presentation tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) to communicate insights effectively to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly and confidently explain complex issues and present actionable recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage technical and analytical teams.
  • Ability to meet firm deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrates commitment to safety, diversity, and inclusion principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data analysis tools such as SQL, Toad for Oracle, and Power BI.
  • Certifications in project management or process improvement (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma).
  • Familiarity with regulatory processes and wholesale energy markets.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily, monthly, and annual submission of aggregated energy, capacity, and transmission data to PJM, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitor compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and support audit activities.
  • Maintain proper security protocols for sensitive customer and financial information.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in settlement systems; implement practical solutions to maintain data integrity.
  • Lead process improvements for load data preparation and submission to PJM, focusing on efficiency and accuracy.
  • Supervise and guide team members, assign work priorities, and provide coaching to support professional development.
  • Promote collaboration and accountability within the team and across departments.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for PJM-related settlement activities with internal departments and external suppliers.
  • Participate in PJM committees and subcommittees, representing FirstEnergy on operational matters.
  • Engage in meetings to address metering, customer load data, and settlement issues, providing clear recommendations.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for regulatory proceedings and may provide testimony before State Commissions or FERC when required.
