About The Position

The Raw Materials and Ingredients Manager will manage the sourcing, qualification and operational handling of all raw materials, ingredients or processing aids used in beverage development. This role ensures that new ingredients are technically validated, compliant and scalable assure MAB meets its quality, compliance and financial targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Brewing/Fermentation Science, Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in brewing or process engineering, with a strong track record in process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive technical change across multiple sites, effectively influencing stakeholders and teams without direct authority.
  • Skilled in designing and delivering technical training programs that build brewing expertise and elevate team capability.
  • Strong data‑driven problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret process data, diagnose root causes, and translate insights into practical improvements.
  • Proven success partnering with Engineering, Quality, R&D, and Operations teams to align priorities, standardize practices, and accelerate implementation of technical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical authority for all raw materials and ingredients, responding to internal inquiries and guiding ingredient selection and usage.
  • Lead the technical qualification of new ingredients by defining Critical Quality Attributes (CQAs), Critical Process Parameters (CPPs), analytical methods, and validation criteria.
  • Conduct small-scale trials and functional assessments to confirm ingredient performance before production.
  • Define scale-up requirements, including equipment capability, process conditions, and any CapEx implications.
  • Own the technical approval of new and existing ingredient suppliers, collaborating with Quality, Procurement and Product Development as part of the supplier selection process.
  • Perform technical reviews, process capability assessments (including Cp/Cpk expectations), and ingredient-level risk assessments.
  • Lead supplier technical capability assessments and provide technical data and feedback to support Procurement's performance discussions with suppliers.
  • Ensure every ingredient meets applicable TTB, FDA, state, and internal MAB regulatory standards, including documentation such as SDS, allergen declarations, nutritional specs, GRAS status, and Prop 65 compliance.
  • Support production, brewing, and packaging teams with troubleshooting of ingredient-related quality issues or non-conformances.
  • Provide rapid root-cause analysis and corrective action guidance to minimize operational downtime.
  • Identify technical opportunities for cost optimization such as reformulations and yield improvements and support Procurement's evaluation of alternative suppliers as part of sourcing events and competitive supplier selection activities.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Product Development to identify and research emerging ingredients and technologies that enhance product quality, reduce cost, or enable innovation.
  • Recommend changes to ingredient standards, analytical methods, and quality specifications based on new data or learnings.
  • Contribute to the broader technical governance framework by documenting standards, updating specifications, and supporting training across sites.
