About The Position

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Radiochemistry Group Manager in Richland, WA. This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD). The Radiochemistry Group Manager leads a team of chemists and chemical technologists in performing analytical testing on Hanford Site samples, while also guiding the execution of assigned work scope with creativity and mature technical judgment to solve complex or novel technical problems. Work scope includes radio-isotopic separations and Counting room operations. The ideal candidate will provide leadership, direction, and integration of the Radiochemistry team working within their assigned area of responsibility. This position is accountable to the Analytical Operations Director.

Requirements

  • BS in Chemistry, or related science
  • 10 years of Analytical laboratory experience
  • Candidate will be a proficient user of Microsoft Office programs (particularly Word and Excel).

  • 12+ years of Analytical laboratory experience
  • Radiochemistry knowledge/experience
  • Knowledgeable user of Laboratory Information Management systems (LIMS)

Responsibilities

  • Promotes a positive, safety-conscious, and collaborative work environment consistent with the HLMI mission, vision, and values.
  • Implements ISMS, VPP, and EMS responsibilities in assigned area(s) of responsibility and ensures safety principles are incorporated into group activities.
  • Effectively leads team members including establishing arrangements that allow them to perform effectively in their role.
  • Manages assigned scope and subordinates by directing team resources with daily and weekly work schedules, ensuring adequate resources are provided, assigning and tracking tasks, evaluating personnel performance, ensuring proper training and qualifications of staff members, and providing professional development opportunities.
  • Ensures proper identification, selection, and implementation of technical processes, procedures, standards, and codes of practice to be used in delivery of assigned scope.
  • Ensures analytical testing equipment remains operational and calibrated.
  • Monitors, reviews, and reports on project status including progress against schedules and cost position to project managers.
  • Ensures quality assurance requirements are incorporated into daily work activities.
  • Provides leadership, vision, and motivation in directing the organization's activities.
  • Interfaces with HLMI management team, chemists, engineers, DOE, and the public.
