Overview Facilitates standardization of QAS department processes and procedures focused on optimizing the organization’s quality and safety of clinical systems. Responsible for monitoring and reporting on overall QAS department operational performance in support of annual quality and safety objectives prioritized by the organization and the CGP Regional Director of Quality, Safety, Ops Support. Responsibilities Applies nursing knowledge in formal and informal consultation with individual staff and clinicians, managers, committees/teams and Risk Management to identify and address clinical quality and safety concerns and coordinate the management of clinical adverse event investigations, risk assessments and follow up on corrective actions. Uses advanced operations and systems knowledge and clinical acumen to redesign and maintain the infrastructure for RCA process, reviews, committee updates and annual reports. Provides leadership support and coordination of the QAS staff by developing standard work processes, mentors QAS staff, encourages and supports staff education, and fosters personal and professional development of QAS personnel. Participates in interviews and hiring of new QAS staff. Maintains departmental orientation and training procedures for new employees. Applies advanced skills in change management to maintain and promote a harmonious work environment within the different division departments to assure alignment on clinical quality and safety projects. Uses analytical skills to conduct routine assessment of needs of QAS programs and operations; works with CGP Regional Director of Quality, Safety, Ops Support and other department program specialists to assign support staff resources among multiple projects and operational priorities. Assumes primary responsibility for developing efficient departmental procedures with an emphasis on high quality of program performance. Develops policies and procedures when necessary for all internal operating systems. Standardizes systems between programs whenever possible. Using advance critical thinking and nursing knowledge, facilitates a multidisciplinary approach to system problem identification and resolution with other stakeholder departments/sections at CGP to improve the quality and safety of clinical systems. Works collaboratively with the CGP Regional Director of Quality, Safety, Ops Support to apply advanced leadership, analytical, and change management skills to identify and develop new programs or methodologies for delivering the department’s services more effectively and efficiently by initiating and reviewing proposals for modifying operational systems, practices, policies and procedures, and implementing necessary changes. Develops and carries out a full range of management and reporting activities of the assigned programs and projects including, but not limited to, preparation of the annual program execution plan, developing strategies for improvement and/or the correction of deviations from plans. May temporarily assume CGP Regional Director of Quality, Safety, Ops Support responsibilities in the absence of the Director. Maintains a portfolio of Senior Quality & Safety Specialist RN projects and assignments. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
