About The Position

The Manager assists the Director in directing a team of senior consultants and consultants in helping clients identify and claim R&E [commonly known as Research and Development (R&D) tax credits and then assists the R&E Director and/or Sr. Manager in defending those credits when necessary in the context of an audit by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and/or state tax authorities. The Manager will diagnose, develop, and implement solutions for client tax needs. The Manager will also direct tax research, formulate tax plans, train new staff employees, senior consultants and consultants, and perform tax reviews. Open remotely anywhere in the U.S.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in federal tax incentives, especially R&D credits.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation standards.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Must have excellent organization and time management skills, strong communication skills, and willingness to learn and be a team player.
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as Internet navigation and legal/technical tax code research tools.
  • Valid driver's license required.

  • Job duties related to this role are to be conducted in a manner that adheres to privacy laws, as well as follows internal governance related to protecting confidential information and trade secrets, and to securing data and company records.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct QA/QC reviews of R&D tax credit studies for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support quality control for cost segregation, §179D, and §45L studies.
  • Assist in developing review protocols and training materials.
  • Maintain a small book of studies to stay technically sharp.
  • Participate in client calls and provide technical support as needed.
