Position Title Manager Quality Assurance Principal Purpose of Position: To lead and manage staff responsible for compliance with quality management systems, customer interactions, and material testing laboratories. This role also oversees corrective actions request for management, material certification, and customer and third-party audits. Other key responsibilities of this position include: Maintains a focus on safe work practices and zero injury workplace for self and sets same expectations and accountability for safety of the reporting team Ensuring lab practices and test methods are in compliance with customer and industry requirements including AS9100, AS13100, ASTM, or other relevant standards. Lead the Quality Management Reviews including setting the schedule, ensuring appropriate people are in attendance and documenting the outcomes to meet quality accreditation requirements Own the Quality Manual and ensure the responsibilities and accountabilities within the manual are delegated and completed as planned Be the Management Representative for the site Lead or delegate lead for quality audits (Internal, customer, regulatory, and supplier) Manage customer quality surveys Ensure customer issue resolution is conducted and closed out Manage approved supplier list and supplier audits Oversee temporary instruction system owner Governance of quality system components Calibrations, gage R&Rs, SOPs, CARs, FMEAs Corrective action system owner Specification review Leads interaction with customers, suppliers and third-party audits related to quality systems. Provide leadership, management, coaching, and continuous training to direct reports. Provide regular feedback on performance and coaching on performance vs. goals Biannual talent assessment and calibration with input to organization leadership Develop high potential talent, identify low performers and manage overall team performance to optimize organizational performance Responsible for completing the required round robin and proficiency testing (PTP) requirements. Proactively gain the necessary testing, quality, and operating systems knowledge to support the laboratories and recommend changes to improve the testing processes. This includes evaluating/justifying/acquiring new instrumental technologies to meet evolving analysis requirements. Coach, counsel, and communicate performance expectations to own employees, and effectively communicate customer and industry quality requirements to all Carpenter employees. Ensure SOP’s and quality manual documents are maintained and updated to satisfy changes to lab accreditation/certification requirements. Manage/perform statistical evaluations of data to quantify capabilities. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned. Requirements

  • A 4-year degree in science or engineering is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Supervisory/Managerial role in a production environment
  • Experience with Aerospace Quality Systems (AS9100, NADCAP) required, other accreditations are a plus
  • Experience in continual improvement programs
  • Experience in managing site quality
  • Experience in managing multi-faceted multi-organizational issues
  • Experience in using ERP and MES systems to verify product quality assurance, to perform process data reviews and analysis, and to confirm that order requirements are fulfilled

Nice To Haves

  • Quality standards related training and certifications are a plus
  • Prior knowledge of AS9100 is preferred
