About The Position

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a Manager Public Safety Operations for St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. St. Vincent’s Medical Center is a 473-bed community teaching hospital with over 3,200 employees, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services. The Manager Public Safety Operations directs and leads a Public Safety Management team in its operational activities of an entity or regional Public Safety Department. This role focuses on setting, directing, and leading public safety and security core initiatives and operational capabilities, aligning with overall hospital operations. Key areas include security operations, protection of organizational assets, threat management, team development, engagement and communications, service excellence, continuous improvement, financial stewardship, and regulatory compliance. The position requires specialized skills, knowledge, and subject matter expertise in safety programs, public safety, security, criminal procedure, emergency preparedness, and general hospital operations and workflow.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in related field.
  • 3 years general experience in related field.
  • Connecticut Guard card
  • Valid State of CT Driver’s License
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5 years of experience in hospital public safety or law enforcement preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develops policies and procedures for operational support, leadership and for protection, security, preparedness, response and resiliency activities.
  • Provide direct management of Public Safety Managers by teaching, coaching and mentoring
  • Develops strategies, policies and procedures for the protection of organizational assets and simultaneously balances and ensures a consumer driven focus related to the HHC community (patients, colleagues, etc).
  • Serve as resource and single point of contact for internal and external customers seeking important and timely Public Safety resources.
  • Engages and communicates with Public Safety Managers and Officers during shift work, huddles and other department meetings to ensure a high level of engagement, perception and confidence of Public Safety.
  • Audits Public Safety Officer reports and incidents.
  • Partners with HHC Public Safety and Emergency Management to advance and align processes to build a best-in-class program that is standardized, integrated and optimized.
  • Provides project management and support for identified programs, workgroups, committees and annual improvement priorities.
  • Establishes department budget and provides support for organizational budgetary and financial processes, including other business intelligence systems.
  • Provides support for regulatory compliance processes.
  • Develops and sustains internal and external relationships
  • Responds to operational issues and emergencies during and outside of normal business hours and/or participates in an on-call system.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
