At BHP, you’ll be part of a team that values safety, integrity, performance, and collaboration.The Challenge AheadAs the Manager Project Controls & Analysis, you will provide leadership to a team focussed on the provision of project controls (e.g. scope, estimated/actual cost, planning and scheduling, budgets, changes, progress and forecasting) to influence the on-time and on-budget delivery of project objectives. In addition, you will translate strategy into operational plans for the department expectations for quality, safety, and compliance.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Project Controls leadership roles on large, complex mining or major capital projects, ideally within an owner’s team environment.
  • 15+ years of experience across project management and project controls disciplines.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related field (preferred).
  • Advanced expertise in project controls systems, earned value management, and cost forecasting.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting systems and their integration with project controls.
  • Knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and commissioning work processes.
  • Proven ability to influence, communicate, and collaborate with senior leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and inclusive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Define project objectives/schedules, identify critical activities, monitor the project plan/schedule and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
  • Manage cost engineering, cost estimating, cost analysis/control, and planning/scheduling activities for the project that requires a high degree of technical skill and experience.
  • Monitor and manage project performance to deliver projects in line with safety standards, requirements, budget and scope.
  • Develop, predict/forecast, and benchmark project costs and schedule estimates in line with industry standards, principles and practices.
  • Prioritise work effort and resources accordingly.
  • Develop and conduct presentations and facilitate workshops using storytelling to connect, influence and engage with various stakeholders, both internal and external to the project. This includes non-routine requests.
  • Apply and evaluate change management tools, methods, data, purpose, value and strategic direction.
  • Provide leadership in integrating risk management processes with key Project Controls procedures (forecasting, cost, planning, change management, and claims).
  • Provide technical cost and schedule support for claims.
