Sphere Studios is looking for a Manager, Production to support and manage content production for events at Sphere venues. Reporting to the VP, Production Lead, the Manager is a critical member of the production team that oversees projects across the entire production lifecycle, from creative development to production through final delivery. This role will primarily be responsible for managing, planning and tracking the creative and design phase of content creation but has integrated responsibilities in all aspects of production. The Manager will interface cross-departmentally with creative directors, art directors, designers, physical production, post-production, and visual effects. Reporting to the VP, Production Lead, this role will ensure all productions are fully supported logistically while managing timelines, budgets/costs and key creative relationships. They will support the Production team in coordinating work with external vendors and/or freelancers that specialize in VFX, Motion Graphics and creative content. They will manage all aspects of the creative and design workstream including directing coordinators, deftly moving between the daily minutiae while reporting progress to the Production Lead. The ideal candidate has creative production/project management experience in the film, television or advertising/design industries. They possess the ability to quickly problem solve and pivot as necessary to ensure the success of a project. They should have a proven track record of maintaining deadlines and working within budgetary parameters. Both strong negotiation skills and interpersonal skills will allow them to collaborate with large teams and maintain effective communication within Sphere Studios production and other internal departments.

Requirements

  • College degree preferred or additional production certificate programs.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a VFX, studio, network or post-production facility Producer
  • Experience managing creative resourcing plans and tracking forecasted hours against budget across multiple concurrent workstreams
  • Familiarity with the creative advertising/design industry, understating basic terminology and practices
  • Familiarity with a broad range of creative software applications from content creation through editorial and production management tools.
  • Comfortable working with multiple departments and roles spanning from entry level to Executive Management
  • Excellent skills in collaboration and communication (oral and written). Must be a team player and work well under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 360, Excel, Slack, Airtable, Power Point
  • Familiarity with Movie Magic Budgeting
  • Ability to motivate and support team members while fostering growth opportunities.
  • Excellent skills at prioritization in a fast-paced, high-pressured environment.

Responsibilities

  • Define and manage creative scope, level of involvement, and resourcing plans in partnership with Creative & Design, aligning forecasted creative hours to approved production budgets
  • Lead structured creative review with internal and external teams to deliver quality content
  • Help manage vendor and partner relationships while having an ongoing understanding of their capacity and capabilities
  • Acute understanding of design practices and processes
  • Work with departmental production and creative staff to ensure project needs are being met, identify interdependencies and track them
  • Build and maintain detailed project schedules and tracking systems (Airtable, Frame.io, Slack, ShotGrid, SharePoint), ensuring version control, milestone visibility, and centralized documentation
  • Schedule cross-departmental meetings with the intention of disseminating critical project information, ending with buyoff of a cohesive, budget-conscious plan
  • Partner with members of the Production team to support other aspects of content production wherever needed
  • Work closely with Directors of Production on budgeting and cost reporting needs.
