About The Position

The Manager, Process Development Group leads a team of engineers in the design and implementation of end-to-end new product manufacturing and filling processes across multiple cosmetic categories. They are responsible for operational excellence via continuous improvement in process control, quality, and cost. The Manager relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, manage projects, and resolve process issues.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related degree.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Personal Care new product/process development and providing technical leadership.
  • Firm understanding of chemical processing concepts including heat transfer, mass flow, and instrumental & statistical analysis and their application to multiple personal care product types; i.e. emulsions, powders, etc.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication and writing skills.
  • Proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Problem-solving, decision-making, and statistical data analysis experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of end-to-end manufacturing processes for all new product introductions and consolidate, streamline, and strengthen existing processes.
  • Assist in developing the long-term processing equipment strategy (2-5 years) for implementation into Manufacturing after proven in R&D.
  • Study, understand, and execute pilot scale batches of complex R&D lab formulas for a smooth transition to manufacturing/production scale while providing fluid communication between R&D and Manufacturing. This involves all facets of R&D Pilot Production: Experimental Design, Execution, Physical/Analytical Testing, and Quantitative Analysis and Interpretation.
  • Ensure a safe, efficient, and quality operation in the Pilot Plant, as well as a high level of equipment reliability.
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of root cause analysis and effectiveness of corrective actions in support of investigations, as required.
  • Manage the technical requirements for the preparation of process documentation in support of manufacturing trial and process validation batching.
  • Establish KPI's to measure improvements such as RTFT, cycle time reduction, scalability, etc. Initiate innovative ideas, processes, and technology to reduce in-process adjustments, rework, and scrap.
  • Develop capabilities of direct reports by providing mentoring, constructive feedback, and training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
