About The Position

Reporting to the Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory Affairs Director, you will ensure food safety and product quality at our Council Bluffs, IA facility. You will lead regulatory compliance, oversee HACCP and SQF programs, and champion continuous improvement across the plant. You will partner closely with Operations, Research and Development, Maintenance, and Sales while providing technical leadership and guidance that elevates food safety ownership throughout the facility. A Taste of Your Responsibilities Ensure adherence to company safety policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations. Lead compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, encompassing sanitation, hygiene, and waste management. Develop and deliver food safety and quality training for plant employees. Lead, coach, and mentor team members to strengthen technical knowledge and accountability. Manage timelines and milestones for Food Safety and Quality Improvement Plans, including reduction of complaints and incidents. Interpret and communicate food safety and quality data, applying corrective actions when needed. Maintain compliance with USDA, FDA and other regulatory bodies while serving as the primary contact for inspectors. Oversee Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, Safe Quality Food certification, recall programs, environmental monitoring, and pest control programs. Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance to embed food safety and quality into daily production practices. Support new product introductions using Management of Product Development and Commissioning Qualification and Verification tools. Serve as Food Safety and Quality pillar owner within the Conagra Performance System, applying continuous improvement tools to drive measurable results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Food Science, or another related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing within food safety or quality leadership roles.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures regulations, process control, and root cause analysis.
  • Skilled in interpreting scientific data, regulatory requirements, and performance metrics.
  • Proficient with statistical analysis, process capability, and predictive quality methodologies.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, supporting collaboration across cross‑functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated leadership in developing teams and fostering a culture rooted in food safety and quality.
