About The Position

The Pharmacy Clinical Manager, within the scope of the Ohio Pharmacist Practice Act, will lead clinical pharmacy teams, programs, and initiatives. This specific position is an integral component of the Mount Carmel St. Ann's, New Albany, and Dublin inpatient pharmacy leadership team and serve as system point for the Antimicrobial Stewardship pharmacists and program. In addition, this position will support the MCSA PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program, including an opportunity if interested to serve as Responsible Program Director.

Requirements

  • Education: Doctor of Pharmacy required; Master’s Degree and/or post-graduate training preferred
  • Licensure / Certification: Maintains current licensure with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy; board certification preferred
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years clinical experience required, supervisory experience preferred
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Shows keen interest in colleague development and recognizes the need for quality clinical and education initiatives
  • Evidence of effective leadership qualities, decision-making skills, and ability to generate ideas and innovations in patient oriented pharmaceutical care

Responsibilities

  • Maintains documentation on practice-related educational programs in compliance with Joint Commission and Ohio State Board of Pharmacy guidelines
  • Engages with prescribers at hospital site to optimize drug use, including drug selection work groups, feedback on prescribing patterns and pharmacy service communications at physician staff meetings
  • Contributes, on behalf of site pharmacy teams, to various hospital-based committees, other medication-related work groups, and service line initiatives
  • Supervises development and performance of pharmacy intern and extern students for experience practicum, including completion of appropriate documentation within the designated time frame
  • Works closely with the clinical pharmacy leadership team to support Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee preparation, including medication safety assessment, medication utilization evaluation, and communication to pharmacy, physician and nursing clinicians.
  • Supports the drug procurement process including overseeing therapeutic alternatives to drug shortages, recalls, and formulary changes.
  • Builds relationships with inpatient practitioners and colleagues, primary care physicians, and outpatient and ambulatory clinician teams.
  • Implements clinical competencies and performance improvement plans per site/program.
  • Coordinates the dissemination of information with various health system committees/departments (i.e. Infection Control and Risk Management)
  • Assumes responsibility for all activities related to investigational drugs
