Summary Manages daily operations of Perioperative care across the continuum of operative patient care delivery, both clinical and managerially.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing
  • 5 years of experience in the operating room/procedural nurse
  • 2 years Managerial experience or serving in a leadership role.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 90 Days
  • CNOR - Certified Nurse Operating Room CCICBPN - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire or CPAN - Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse ABPNCI - State of Pennsylvania or CAPA-Cert Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse ABPNCI - State of Pennsylvania
  • RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
  • Lift and carry 40-50 lbs.
  • Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight.
  • Frequent to continuous standing/walking.
  • Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift.
  • Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with educators to ensure orientation and continuing education needs are met.
  • Develops and maintains 24-hr operation of the unit through communication with the health care team.
  • Ensures staff is assigned considering experience and skill level, to meet safe patient needs.
  • Ensures that personnel follows all Risk Management and Infection Control policies and procedures.
  • Identifies potential disciplinary problems such as performance, attendance, and punctuality with staff and addresses issues.
  • Monitors staff in developing and implementing effective quality care based on standards.
  • Participates with the Director in the preparation and follow-through of annual budgets including operational, capital, and labor.
  • Functions as Director of Nursing for PA DOH licensure.
