About The Position

DAYTON LIVE, located in the heart of downtown Dayton, is one of the city’s premier, not-for-profit arts organizations and one of the largest real estate owner in downtown proper. We present more than 300 performances for all ages and interests each year, including touring Broadway, comedians, concerts, films, and family shows. We operate and maintain the Benjamin & Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center, Victoria Theatre, the PNC Arts Annex, and Metropolitan Arts Center (home of The Loft Theatre) for the benefit of the community and the arts organizations that use them. We also own and operate The Arts Garage. Purpose: Under the direction of the Director – Event Sales and Service, the Performance Bar Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and supervising concession and retail operations for multiple facilities including but not limited to Schuster Center, Victoria Theater, Loft Theater, and PNC Arts Annex. This position is responsible for inventory control, quality control, staff/volunteer management, ordering and managing supplies of all spaces. Additional responsibilities will include management of point of sale system, completion and training on proper cash controls.

Requirements

  • Work experience in the food industry is required.
  • Possess working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personalities and successfully communicate with all levels inside the organization and outside clientele.
  • Must possess excellent planning and organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills.
  • 2-4 years of experience managing a Performance Bar or Food and Beverage operation - required

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Food and Beverage team to provide profitable and successful events and serve as a Bar Captain when needed.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of ongoing training, learning and development opportunities for employees.
  • Responsible for the volunteer communication, training, and retention including management of Better Impact (volunteer software).
  • Foster an atmosphere of teamwork, which promotes and ensures a safe and positive work environment for all employees.
  • Maintain Toast POS system to ensure that all revenue centers, registers, product codes, pricing and functionalities are accurate and operational during performances.
  • Develop, train, and execute proper cash handling procedures for all performance bars.
  • Ensure that the daily close process via the Toast system and the related accounting schedules are completed timely and accurately.
  • Ensure food and beverage setups for all events (ticketed and private) are accurate and timely.
  • Develop and manage the inventory for all performances to ensure preparedness and the best possible patron experience.
  • Order all products from approved vendors to maintain proper level of inventory .
  • Ensure that all radios are fully functional and available for Toast Cashiers, Bar Captains and Barbacks to use during each performance.
  • Manage cleaning supply needs (rags, wipes, chemicals, etc.) to maintain health standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
