When you join the Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS), you join a team of more than 5,000 employees across the state dedicated to positively changing the lives of more than 1 million Marylanders each year. The Payroll Manager plans, directs and administers the Department’s payroll/leave accounting operations, which authorizes and controls salary and fringe benefit expenditures annually for DHS’s approx. 6,000+ regular and contractual employees. This includes monitoring the Agency’s timekeeping system, SPS, a Workday-based system; developing and monitoring payroll and timekeeping processes and procedures; and leading a team of payroll employees.
