About The Position

Qualified candidates will need Revenue Cycle or Billing experience The manager is responsible for the development and implementation of new billing, admitting, reimbursement, and collection and patient policies and procedures which improve and maximize the hospital's cash flow and accounts receivable. The position is responsible for managing the direction of MyMichigan Health's medical centers patient collection functions which includes In and Outpatient Admitting, Insurance Billing, collections, Customer Service, Reimbursement, and Support Services.

Requirements

  • NIMS IS 100: NIMS IS 100 Introduction Incident Command System Within 6 months of hire or transfer
  • NIMS IS 700: NIMS IS 700 Introduction National Incident Mgt System Within 6 months of hire or transfer
  • NIMS IS 200: NIMS IS 200 Basic Incident Command System Initial Response Within 6 months of hire or transfer
  • Bachelors degree is required
  • Eight to nine years work experience.
  • Five years in a health care setting with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Two years in a computerized setting which utilized various PC software required Four years formal training beyond high school or comparable on the job experience and management skills required.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and analytical skills that result in good judgment and decision making.
  • Human relation skills, interviewing and excellent people skills required.

Responsibilities

  • (25%) Plans, develops, recommends and implements new or different procedures for Patient Accounting which will result in improvements in receivable days and cash flow while maintaining the goodwill of the community.
  • (25%) Directs the collection of self-pay accounts receivable. Works with collection agencies to process bad debt receivables.
  • (25%) Manages, leads, coordinates and directs the activities of the financial counselors and customer service representatives. Provides oversight of the Medicaid Eligibility Specialists. Works as a liaison between all MyMichigan affiliates to establish consistent system policies and procedures.
  • (25%) Assesses and ensures that the department is operating in such a manner that productivity, quality and average accounts receivable days is maintained or improved.
  • Establishes training programs for employees in a formalized setting to ensure the incumbent is performing in a satisfactory manner.
  • Perform ongoing staff education.
  • Maintains fiscal responsibility for preparing and monitoring the department operating budgets and capital budgets.
  • Actively participates with the other Patient Financial Services managers, along with other hospital staff and committees to educate, improve and develop an awareness of third-party billing requirements, patient collection guidelines and laws.
