About The Position

Disc Medicine is seeking a versatile and highly motivated corporate paralegal to join our Legal team and help to build our business. This role will provide major contributions to the Lega team supporting the contracts, corporate, and intellectual property groups within the department. The successful candidate will possess experience in managing the entire contracts lifecycle from contract initiation, drafting, negotiation, execution and management of the contracts database. In addition, the ideal candidate should have experience with corporate governance matters, including the management of corporate entities and the maintenance of board minutes, resolutions, and other corporate matters. This position will report to the Director, Legal Operations and Contracts, and collaborate extensively across the company, including with our commercial, medical, clinical, finance, and other teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in an in-house legal department within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including proven ability to interact effectively with individuals from multiple departments at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and perform at a high caliber in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to professionalism and ethical conduct, including ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive information
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while executing on responsibilities within a highly collaborative environment

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary contact in the management of the contracts lifecycle process, including, intake, initial contract drafting, facilitating Disc signatures on all agreements, archiving, and tracking of contractual obligations
  • Advise internal stakeholders of upcoming contractual obligations and contractual expirations/auto-renewals
  • Follow up with internal stakeholders to determine next course of action for the Legal team (i.e. renewal of agreements, amendments, etc.)
  • Collaborate with employees across the company with respect to contract requests in a manner that efficiently advances our corporate goals by promoting successful contract review and execution
  • Pro-actively follow up with relevant stakeholders (business teams, Compliance, Legal, Finance, etc.) to limit any delay in contact review and finalization
  • Provide support to the Corporate Legal team as needed on matters related to entity management, maintenance of corporate governance matters, and other corporate legal files
  • Provide support to the Intellectual Property team as needed
  • Interface with external legal resources, as appropriate
